Jennifer Dillon ~ 2016 Ann Villani Memorial Award Recipient
The Ann Villani Memorial Award is given once a year to an individual who demonstrates the amazing qualities that Ann possessed. Volunteerism, a passion for dressage, desire to further educate and an appreciation of anything horses to name a few. Ann felt that proper instruction and training helped maintain the welfare of the horse. She worked tirelessly on providing and managing educational opportunities for riders, instructors, and judges. Ann was also a valued member of the scholarship committee which helps defray continuing education costs. The scholarship committee is pleased to announce Jennifer Dillon as this once in a lifetime award recipient for 2016.
Former NEDA President Kathy McHugh “I am so delighted that Jen is receiving this award. Jen is someone you can count on - give her a job, and then you can forget about it. Because you know it will be done on time, under budget and with a very high quality result. She is a pleasure to work with and full of creative ideas for doing things better and more efficiently.”
From Elizabeth Creamer and staff at Pineland Farms “When Jennifer Dillon decides she’s going to do something it is never half way. It’s pretty much all or nothing. It has been the good fortune for the sport of dressage that this is where her focus landed when she decided to switch equestrian disciplines twenty odd years ago. And she chose Michael Poulin as a mentor. Right there, that speaks volumes about her determination to become the best she could be.
But it wasn’t just about the riding. She embraced the entire sport. Many groups and individuals have benefitted from her passion for creating educational opportunities; her enthusiasm for everyone’s self improvement; her vision of dressage as a burgeoning sport; and her ability to bring like-minded people together, as well as to work with disparate opinions and still get the job done. Closer to home, those of us who work at Pineland Farms know that the Equestrian Center would not be what it is today without Jennifer Dillon. Thanks Jen!”
Current NEDA President, Phyllis LeBlanc "The very first time I met Jen Dillon at a NEDA Fall Symposium I was impressed with her passion for education within the sport of dressage. Her enthusiasm was infectious and it was supported by her knowledge of the sport acquired through years of pursuing education. Over the years Jen's passion has never waned and she works tirelessly to support the dressage community. It is a privilege to work with someone with such passion for the sport."
From Kate O’Connor: “I was always impressed by Ann's boundless energy and devotion to promoting the highest and best quality programs to educate all dressage enthusiasts regardless of level or role. I am delighted to hear that the 2016 recipient of the Ann Villain Memorial Award is Jennifer Dillon. I have known and worked with Jen for a number of years on many educational programs Jen managed for NEDA and Pineland Farms Equestrian Center. I feel that Jen is most worthy to receive this award based on her demonstrated passion for dressage education and ability to think outside the box, so to speak, and to provide the best education for the most people. It will be my pleasure to keep working with her as she continues to promote educational opportunities. CONGRATULATIONS JENNIFER!”
The Scholarship Committee, NEDA, the members, and all who know and have had the pleasure of working with and volunteer for Jennifer congratulate her and wish her ALL THE BEST now and always!
